About the Owners

Chestnut Creek Stables was founded in 1999 by Mary Engel and her husband Stephen after moving to Austin, Texas.

They purchased the property on Signal Hill Road to accommodate Mary’s equestrian pursuits but realized quickly it was too nice not to share and began offering boarding for a few select guest horses and their owners.

Their stable is a private facility located about twenty minutes from downtown.

Both Steve and Mary’s family reside in Austin, therefore it seemed like a perfect area to start up a horse boarding facility.

Their objective was to have a full-service horse boarding facility close in to town

where avid horse lovers could exercise their horses and not have to drive too far to get there.

Mary grew up in an Army family moving around often.
